The four key tasks for new energy vehicles in 2021 are clear.

  Experts pointed out

The new energy automobile industry will enter a more rational development stage

On January 19, the Inter-Ministry Joint Conference on Energy Conservation and New Energy Automobile Industry Development clarified four key tasks for the development of the new energy automobile industry this year.

As a result, the "New Energy Automobile Industry Development Plan (2021-2035)" (hereinafter referred to as the "Plan") officially issued by the General Office of the State Council in October 2020 was officially implemented.

Automobiles are an important application carrier of technological progress in the previous industrial revolutions. The development of new energy vehicles is a major strategic decision made by the Party Central Committee and the State Council.

Previously, the "Energy-saving and New Energy Automobile Industry Development Plan (2012-2020)" issued by the State Council has played a vital leading role in promoting my country's new energy automobile industry from the cultivation period to the growth period.

As the first development deployment in my country's industrial sector for the "14th Five-Year Plan" and a longer period of time, the "Plan" also provides a comprehensive and systematic plan for the development of my country's new energy automobile industry in the next 15 years.

According to data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, in 2020, the production and sales of new energy vehicles in my country will be 1.366 million and 1.367 million respectively, representing a year-on-year increase of 7.5% and 10.9% respectively, and sales hit a record high.

According to Xu Haidong, deputy chief engineer of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, new energy vehicles are expected to reach 1.8 million in 2021, an increase of 40% year-on-year.

However, as the convener of the joint meeting and Minister of Industry and Information Technology Xiao Yaqing said in a speech at the China Electric Vehicles Forum (2021), "The development of my country’s new energy vehicle industry is on a rocky mountain and climbing a hurdle. Critical period."

The joint meeting pointed out that after years of continuous efforts, the development of my country's new energy automobile industry has achieved remarkable results, but the development foundation is not yet solid, and the competitive advantage is not obvious. It is also facing new situations, new problems and new challenges, and requires innovative ideas and continuous promotion.

This year is the first year of the "14th Five-Year Plan" and the start of the "Plan". The first step is to focus on four tasks.

First, it is necessary to enhance the independent controllability of the supply chain of the industrial chain, coordinate the promotion of shortcomings and forging longboards, and enhance the toughness and competitiveness of the industrial chain.

The second is to improve the infrastructure system, solve problems such as the difficulty of entering the community by charging piles, improve the level of interconnection, and improve the convenience of charging and product reliability.

Third, it is necessary to increase promotion and application, implement actions to promote the electrification of public vehicles, launch a new round of new energy vehicles to the countryside, and introduce more preferential policies for use links to further stimulate private consumption.

Finally, it is necessary to optimize the industrial development environment, study and formulate a road map for the implementation of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality in the automobile industry, strengthen project investment and production access management, resolutely curb blind investment, promote industrial concentration, and strengthen quality and safety supervision. Effectively improve the safety level of new energy vehicles.

After the release of the "Plan", Ye Shengji, deputy secretary-general of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, said in an interview that new energy vehicles will inevitably have some flaws in the maturity of the industrial chain. Compared with traditional vehicles, product reliability and product cost performance are still outstanding. With a certain distance, there are also many areas for improvement in infrastructure and use environment.

Chen Xiaobing, a member of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, said: “The four key tasks not only address the pain points exposed in the growth of the industry and the bottlenecks in the long-term development in the future, but also point to market chaos such as blind investment. The stage of rational development."
