"The court made a decision to satisfy the claim ... We asked to recognize the decision as illegal and to cancel it - this is all satisfied," he said in a comment to the UNIAN agency.

According to the plaintiff, the basis for filing a complaint in 2019 was a violation of the procedures for adopting a resolution by the Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers.

The government of Ukraine can appeal the court decision in the appellate instance within 30 days, otherwise the decision will enter into force.

In May 2019, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved a new edition of the Ukrainian Spelling, including the rules for spelling Russian surnames.

In particular, it is recommended to write Russian surnames ending in -o in Ukrainian with the ending -th.
