Munich (dpa) - Does an alternative practitioner have to pay a five-year-old boy compensation for pain and suffering because his mother died of cancer?

The Higher Regional Court (OLG) Munich postponed a decision on this question on Thursday.

A judgment date has been set for March 25th.

"The Senate has chosen a rather late announcement date so that the parties still have sufficient opportunity to negotiate out of court settlement negotiations," said a court spokesman.

The father is demanding a total of 170,000 euros in damages and compensation for pain and suffering from his partner's alternative practitioner - because she is said to have advised against conventional medical treatment, even though the patient had cervical cancer.

The naturopath from the vicinity of Passau, who had treated her patient with preparations made from snake venom, so-called Horvi preparations, denies this.

The Regional Court of Passau had dismissed the action, the plaintiff appealed against the judgment.

At the beginning of the trial at the Higher Regional Court in May 2020, the presiding judge Thomas Steiner appealed to the parties to the dispute to come to an agreement.

He repeated this appeal again on Thursday.
