The EU has put heavy pressure on vaccine manufacturer Astra Zeneca in recent days.

The reason is that Astra Zeneca will deliver 60 percent fewer vaccine doses to the EU than previously agreed.

For Sweden, it is about 400,000 doses instead of the promised million.

- It is clear that there is an irritation and frustration among my colleagues in the European Commission.

Now we have to find a solution, said vaccine coordinator Richard Bergström during tonight's Aktuellt.

"Do not buy the argument"

The European Commission believes that Astra Zeneca should supply vaccines from factories in the UK to ensure that EU member states receive the promised doses.

But there will be no doses from the UK, according to Jacob Lund, communications director at Astra Zeneca Norden.

- We can not solve a problem by creating another problem elsewhere, ie in the UK, he says.

Richard Bergström is critical of the message.

- We do not buy the argument that we can not get doses from the UK.

But we can look at the United States as well.

It should be possible to use those facilities.
