Wiesbaden (dpa / lhe) - In the Hessian initial reception facilities for refugees, 695 people have been proven to have been infected with the virus since the beginning of the corona pandemic.

The Ministry of Social Affairs in Wiesbaden announced that 24 people had recently tested positive for the pathogen (as of January 21).

A total of around 3800 asylum seekers are currently living in the facilities.

Employees had hardly been affected by infections in the past few months, as can be seen from a response from the ministry to a small request from the AfD in the state parliament as of December 10 - so there were eight by then.

So far, the initial reception locations in Gießen, Büdingen, Neustadt, Bad Arolsen and Kassel-Niederzwehren have been affected by Corona cases.

According to the ministry, each location has a hygiene and safety concept to deal with the pandemic.

They have "specially designated areas for segregation in which suspects, infected persons and contact persons are immediately accommodated," says the answer to the state parliament request.

Infected employees would immediately be released from work or transferred to home work.
