Since January 20, India has transferred more than 5.5 million doses of coronavirus vaccine to neighboring countries, including Bhutan, Maldives, Mauritius, Bahrain, Nepal, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Seychelles and Sri Lanka, he said.

"In the coming days, we plan to give Oman another 100 thousand doses, the countries of the Caribbean community - 500 thousand doses, 200 thousand - in Nicaragua, 200 thousand doses - to the island states of the Pacific Ocean," RIA Novosti quotes a spokesman for the Indian Foreign Ministry.

At the same time, India intends to commercialize the vaccine to Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Canada, Mongolia and other countries.

“We plan to supply 10 million doses of vaccines to Africa and 1 million to United Nations medical workers within the framework of GAVI,” the diplomat said.

Earlier, the representative of the World Health Organization (WHO) in Russia, Melita Vuinovich, announced a huge shortage of vaccines against coronavirus in the world.

In India, more than 2 million people have been vaccinated against coronavirus.

India approved two of its own coronavirus vaccines for use earlier this year.
