Dortmund (dpa) - Because his mobile phone number is the same as the vaccination hotline for NRW in eight digits, truck driver Michael S. from Dortmund has received numerous calls since Monday - and has become a consolation for many older people.

"It started suddenly at 8 a.m. on Monday," said Michael S. to the German Press Agency.

In the meantime he had received an “infinite number” of calls: “Once I had 63 missed calls.

The latest was at 9.20 p.m. "

On Thursday morning "it was only four."

The Dortmund resident went - as far as work allowed - and spoke to the seniors or their children who wanted to make an appointment for the parents for the corona vaccination.

"The elderly were really desperate," said the Dortmund native: "An 80-year-old told me that he had been trying to get an appointment for 10 hours."

Michael S. gave consolation: “I tried to calm down the elderly.

And told them that they will definitely get an appointment. "

Ultimately, the callers had "apologized umpteen times," said Michael S. at WDR2.

"But I was really moved by a lot of conversations," the truck driver told the dpa.
