Berlin (dpa / bb) - The members of the Berlin House of Representatives are once again dealing with the corona pandemic at their plenary session today (from 10:00 a.m.).

In the current hour, at the request of the FDP parliamentary group, it is about the prospects of a corona test strategy in the capital.

Health Senator Dilek Kalayci (SPD) takes a position on this for the red-red-green state government.

The governing coalition also wants to resolve an amendment to the Berlin Mobility Act.

It should be supplemented by a separate section on the subject of foot traffic.

Red-Red-Green introduced the bill about a year ago, and in the meantime there have been numerous improvements.

The focus is on the question of how the capital can become safer and more comfortable for pedestrians.

For example, it should be easier in the future to set up zebra crossings, central islands and play streets on a temporary basis.

The needs of older pedestrians should also be given greater consideration, for example with benches for necessary breaks on the way.

An urgent motion by the AfD parliamentary group to express disapproval for Interior Senator Andreas Geisel (SPD) is also up for vote.

The AfD accuses him of wanting to have a report on the Berlin AfD written by employees of the Berlin Office for the Protection of the Constitution that was politically unsatisfactory.

The state parliament's agenda also includes the appointment of a committee of inquiry into the controversial real estate transactions of the cooperative “Die eG” and their public funding.

The committee was requested by the parliamentary groups of the CDU and FDP.
