London (dpa) - Facebook's new independent supervisory body has reversed the blocking of four posts through the online network in its first series of decisions.

Only in one of the five cases examined did the experts agree with the view of Facebook's content reviewers.

Decisions of the committee are binding for the company and cannot be overruled by founder and boss Mark Zuckerberg.

It recently got more attention because it is supposed to check the permanent blocking of the Facebook account of the American ex-President Donald Trump.

One of the cases involved a one-sentence contribution incorrectly attributed to Nazi Propaganda Minister Joseph Goebbels.

The alleged quote was about the argument that arguments should appeal to feelings and emotions rather than intellect.

According to the user, he wanted to draw a parallel between this attitude and the presidency of Donald Trump.

However, Facebook blocked the post because Goebbels is on the list of dangerous people and the user did not expressly condemn him in the post.

The panel found in its decision, however, that the contribution did not support Nazi ideology or crimes of the regime.

In addition, the comments under the post had shown that the comparison between the Trump presidency and the Nazi regime was well received.

Facebook formed the body to create an independent counterweight to the company's decisions about content on the platform.

The first members were introduced last year, including the former Danish Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt and the former Guardian editor-in-chief Alan Rusbridger.

On the one hand, users should be able to call in the committee in the event of a deletion of content that they consider to be unjustified.

On the other hand, Facebook itself can call it with various questions about dealing with advertising, groups or pages.
