With the depletion of the COVID-19 vaccine in Europe, Spain has become the first country to stop vaccination.

According to the New York Times, Spanish authorities have announced that they will stop vaccinating for two weeks in the capital city of Madrid due to a lack of vaccines.

The same situation is imminent in northeastern Catalonia, state officials say, "From tomorrow, the refrigeration facility will be empty."

In the vaccination crisis, the EU and manufacturers are holding each other accountable.

EU Health Commissioner Stella Kyriachides told a press conference that the volume produced at the UK plant was part of the EU's purchasing contract.

In response, AstraZeneca said, "In the EU, we are cultivating vaccine raw materials, but because of low productivity, the supply is delayed."

He refuted that a vaccine supply contract with the UK was signed three months before the EU.
