Erfurt (dpa / th) - According to the CDU domestic politician Raymond Walk, Eisenach remains one of the strongholds of right-wing extremism in Thuringia.

"The right-wing extremist scene in the city is still very pronounced," said Walk on Thursday in Erfurt.

He was referring to information from the Interior Ministry on a state parliament request.

After that, the NPD is primarily active in the south-west Thuringian district town.

The right-wing extremist scene had at least 100 supporters.

Part of it is considered violent, said Walk.

With a series of events in the past, 73 alone in 2019, and not infrequently in the party headquarters in Eisenach, supporters would be indirectly recruited.

Walk also referred to a number of cases of politically motivated crime: In the period from 2015 to 2019, a total of 308 such crimes were registered, 60 of them in 2019.

In addition, there are always disputes between the right and left scene in the city.

As an example, Walk cited a bomb attack on a right-wing scene that January.

Walk again called for Thuringia's constitutional protection staff to be strengthened.

A concept for fighting politically motivated crime from 2014 must be updated by the state government, said the CDU MP.

In his view, informants should be used in extremist networks.

"In these isolated areas, it should no longer be a taboo to get sensitive information through V-people."

Thuringia's red-red-green coalition actually doesn't want any more informants - only in extreme cases and with the approval of the government.
