Leipzig (dpa / sn) - Employees of the beverage supplier Durstexpress demonstrated on Thursday in Leipzig for the preservation of their jobs.

The NGG union had called for the protest at the beverage warehouse in the north of the city.

The location is to be closed.

The union demands from the parent company Dr.

Oetker the preservation of the jobs at the previous conditions.

According to NGG, 450 jobs would be affected by a closure.

Durstexpress is a brand of the Oetker Group.

Last year, the group also took over the delivery service in bottles.

Last week, the company announced that it would in future run both delivery services under a single name, namely message in a bottle.

The previous Durstexpress warehouse in Leipzig, like two others in Bochum and Berlin, is no longer needed.

The NGG wants to achieve a “sensible transition” of the previous Durstexpress employees to message in a bottle, said Jörg Most, managing director of the NGG region Leipzig-Halle-Dessau, at the demo on Thursday.

The company and the union have recently approached each other and there will be further talks.

A message in a bottle spokesman said on Wednesday that the company wanted to keep as many of the Durstexpress employees as possible.

You have been asked to apply for a new application at Message in a Bottle.

A quarter of the employees in Leipzig already did this in the first few days after the offer.

According to NGG, however, message in a bottle offered poorer wages and working hours.
