Janet Yellen reaffirmed her commitment to an international tax on Gafa, as she had announced during her hearing before American senators.
This is a real
change of tone
from the United States.
Donald Trump had always strongly opposed it.
His administration had blocked international negotiations overseen by the OECD, the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development.
The United States had even threatened France with reprisals in the form of additional tariffs on products like champagne.
The United States is now ready to discuss with the OECD to tax GAFA.
A commitment hailed by French Minister Bruno Le Maire who hopes for an agreement by this summer.

Paris did not wait to act.
In July 2019,
France introduced a
3%
tax
on the turnover of digital giants.
Which earned him nearly 400 million euros.
Tax suspended by Paris in 2020 to give OECD discussions a chance.
Today, the process seems well under way.
Bruno Le Maire will travel to Washington to meet Janet Yellen as soon as sanitary conditions allow.
