"A decision has been made," said the first deputy mayor of Paris, Emmanuel Grégoire, this Thursday at noon at a press conference, without revealing more.

The decision in question fell a few minutes earlier.

The former deputy of Anne Hidalgo at the mayor of Paris Christophe Girard, targeted by accusations of rape, was excluded from the group "Paris en commun".

"We asked him to leave Paris together"

The elected representative of the 18th had resigned in July from his functions of deputy for Culture after attacks by elected environmentalists of the majority because of his links with Gabriel Matzneff, accused of pedophilia.

He then stepped back in August due to the opening of an investigation by the Paris prosecutor's office on charges of rape targeting him, an investigation closed in November due to the statute of limitations.

The announcement of his potential return to the municipal majority during the Paris council to be held from February 2 to 4 had made some EELV elected officials cringe and embarrassed those around Anne Hidalgo.

"We asked him to leave Paris together," the group president Rémi Féraud told AFP.

"There was a fairly unanimous observation among the elected representatives of the group that his return, today, to the group at the Council of Paris was not politically possible in the current context of the debate on sexual violence".

Contacted by AFP, Christophe Girard announced "take note of their request for withdrawal" and "comply".

"I won't be sleeping beauty"

"I recall, however, that I was the subject of a thorough investigation which scrutinized my personal and professional life over more than 30 years and that this did not lead to any indictment", he added. .

“I was asked to step back, they wanted me to be sleeping beauty until September and until the possible decision of Anne (Hidalgo) to go to the presidential election, but no, I will not be sleeping beauty, ”he continued, specifying that he would be present, as“ elected solitary ”at the next Council in Paris.
