Chen Shizhong rejects mainland vaccines and claims to be "unattractive" Ma Ying-jeou laments missed opportunities for cross-strait relaxation

China Taiwan Net, January 28, according to reports from Taiwan’s official news agency and "United Daily News", Taoyuan’s new crown pneumonia epidemic is heating up, and when Taiwan can obtain the new crown vaccine arouses public concern. Chen Shizhong, the commander of the Taiwan Epidemic Command Center, pointed out on the 27th Many will encounter too many difficulties, and emphasized that "everyone should not embarrass Taiwan anymore." When asked why they did not accept the mainland vaccine, they said that the mainland vaccine is "not attractive" to Taiwan.

Former Taiwanese leader Ma Ying-jeou said in an interview that vaccines would be a way for cross-strait relaxation, but the DPP authorities refused to accept it.

Taoyuan's new crown pneumonia epidemic continues to worsen, and some Taiwanese companies are looking forward to large-scale inspections but are declined by the hospital.

The Taiwan Epidemic Command Center said on the 27th that a centralized quarantine container has been added, and it is expected that 600 to 800 containers can be inspected per day, but enterprises are not encouraged to conduct extensive inspections without reason to avoid increasing panic due to false positive results.

The inspection was rejected, and vaccine procurement has not been successful so far. Chen Shizhong said that vaccine procurement is still actively contacting major manufacturers and will report to the public when confirming the purchase.

Regarding why Taiwan does not accept vaccines from the mainland, Chen Shizhong pointed out that Taiwan has not opened the mainland to import serum, blood preparations and vaccines because of the epidemic.

Chen Shizhong also said that the mainland does not have a particularly prominent vaccine, with an effectiveness of between 50% and 80%, and lack of scientific reports, which is "unattractive" to Taiwan.

The Taiwan Affairs Office spokesperson Zhu Fenglian said at a regular press conference on the 27th that “political epidemic prevention” is of no avail in the current epidemic. Only seeking truth from facts, from a scientific and professional perspective, and sincerely protecting the health and well-being of the people of Taiwan is the solution.

Former Taiwan leader Ma Ying-jeou was asked in an interview whether the vaccine is a way to ease cross-strait relations, and said that if Taiwan can accept it, "of course it is," but Taiwan refuses to accept it.
