Berlin (dpa) - The chairman of the Berlin Charité, Heyo K. Kroemer, expects progress in the treatment of Covid-19 patients.

"I assume that we (...) will receive information within the next two to three months on how people should be treated better," said Kroemer on Thursday in Berlin, referring, among other things, to the development of special antibody therapies in Germany.

The German university hospitals formed a research network last March and since then have been exchanging treatment data and treatment experiences on Covid 19 patients with one another in order to improve therapeutic approaches.

The initiative funded by the Federal Ministry of Research is coordinated by the Charité.

Kroemer called the exchange of data important, as it is still not possible to predict how a Covid disease will develop in individual cases.

"At the Charité, we saw some young patients with fatal courses without our being able to explain it."

"Research is working flat out (...) to take the horror of this pandemic step by step," said Research Minister Anja Karliczek (CDU).

But she also asked for patience.

Research is not rocket science, it takes time.
