Hanover (dpa / lni) - By post, delivery service or for self-collectors: Due to the corona pandemic, the issuing of certificates at the end of the first half of the school year in Lower Saxony is different these days than usual.

In order to comply with distance and hygiene rules, the performance certificates are not handed out in one fell swoop, as a spokesman for the Ministry of Culture said on request on Thursday.

Instead, the issue has been staggered from Wednesday to Friday (February 5th).

The date will be identical on all certificates: January 29th.

Because on this Friday the first half of the school year ends for the approximately one million pupils in Lower Saxony.

The ministry does not specify how the certificates should be handed over.

"There is a colorful bouquet of possibilities," said the managing director of the education and science union (GEW) in Lower Saxony, Rüdiger Heitefaut.

According to this, teachers would have the opportunity to hand over certificates similar to worksheets out of windows or in well-ventilated classrooms.

It is also possible that they drive to the students and bring certificates to the front door, said the spokesman for the Ministry of Culture.

In this way, one can talk to one another personally - by far.

According to the state school authorities, it is also possible to send the certificates by post.

The costs then depend on the school's budget.

Alternatively, certificates could be requested digitally in advance by e-mail, said a spokeswoman for the authorities.

However, the parents' consent must be available for this.

According to its own account, the Ministry of Education and Cultural Affairs does not know which variant the schools in Lower Saxony opt for.
