Today, the only fixed link between Sweden and Denmark for cars and trains is the bridge between Malmö and Copenhagen.

But the need for an additional traffic connection between the countries has been discussed for a long time.

For 59 years, carefully counted.

In 1962 came the first report and since then the debate has continued for another ten or so years.

From the beginning, it was about building a connection for cars, passenger trains and freight trains.

But now the goodies have disappeared from the discussions - the technical challenges would be too difficult due to the height differences underwater.

Now comes the investigation

Two years ago, the Swedish Transport Administration and the Danish Road Directorate were commissioned to make an investigation that will serve as a basis for continued dialogue and finally any political decisions on a fixed link: Yes or no to tunnels between Helsingborg and Helsingör.

On Thursday, the investigation will be published in a joint Danish-Swedish press conference.

But the content is a well-kept secret until 13.30 when the meeting starts.

Here are at least some of the topics covered:

Travel time savings, costs, how the tunnels can be drawn, what adjustments need to be made on land for both road and rail traffic and how the tariffs are to be set up - it will be those who use the tunnel who will pay for the party.

Want to share the bill

The idea of the tunnels has aroused enthusiasm in the political ranks.

Recently, the two highest regional politicians Carl Johan Sonesson (M) and Henrik Fritzon (S) came out with the common opinion that they are not only for a fixed HH connection but also want Region Skåne to be involved and pay - and get part of it future profits.

Helsingborg's corresponding peaks in politics have also expressed enthusiasm for the project.

Among the people of Helsingborg, there are divided opinions about the HH tunnel.
