There is a possibility that in 2021 it will be possible to eliminate the mandatory wearing of medical masks in public places.

According to the head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova, there is hope for such a development of events.

“It is based on the fact that we have shown that we have already learned to live with this virus.

Secondly, we are vaccinated, in order for us to take control of this disease in Russia, at least 60% of the total number of adults should be vaccinated, with the exception of those who have already been ill, ”Popova said on the air of Channel One.

Thus, she answered the question whether there is any hope that it will be possible to remove the masks already in 2021.

Earlier, the head of the Ministry of Health Mikhail Murashko spoke about the prospects for canceling the mask regime.

According to him, this can happen after the formation of population immunity to coronavirus infection in the population.

During a briefing in the government on issues related to the start of mass vaccination against coronavirus, Murashko said that immunity is formed within three weeks after the introduction of the second component of the vaccine.

However, he said, after that, you should also continue to wear the mask.

“Three weeks after the second vaccination, when immunity is formed, it makes sense and it is imperative to take care of the people around, that is, continue to wear the mask until the formation of population immunity as a whole and the elimination of the pathogen from the circulation in the country, since a person with immunity after contact with sick for a short time can become a carrier of infection and infect others, "- explained the head of the Ministry of Health.

According to the head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova, 20-25% of Russians who have had COVID-19 already have antibodies to coronavirus infection.

“Today about 20-25% on average have already developed antibodies to this virus.

But you need to vaccinate everyone who has not yet been ill today, ”she said in an interview with Channel One.

She also noted that the spread of the British mutation of the coronavirus has not been recorded in Russia.

Earlier, the Gamaleya Center told that since the beginning of vaccination against coronavirus in Russia with the drug "Sputnik V", more than 2 million people have already been vaccinated.
