UEFA "reiterated its commitment to organize Euro-2020 in 12 cities" as planned, and is setting itself at the beginning of April as a deadline for deciding the capacity of each stadium, she announced on Wednesday.

"UEFA is committed to hosting Euro-2020 in 12 cities as originally planned," said its president, Aleksander Ceferin, in a statement after a meeting with representatives of the cities hosts of the tournament, postponed last summer because of the pandemic and postponed to June 11 to July 11.

The Slovenian leader said he was "optimistic" that "things should be very different about the virus as we get closer to the tournament, and it is important that we give host cities and governments so much time. as possible to get a clear idea of ​​what will be possible in June and July ".

The supporters are an "important part" of "what makes football special", and "we have to give ourselves the best chance to get them back to the stadium," he added.

"All parties admit a necessary flexibility around the decisions to be taken for the tournament" in the face of "the different challenges and circumstances that each city" will encounter in these times of pandemic, the European football government said in a statement.

UEFA has already worked on four options, city by city, depending on the health situation: a full stadium, from 50 to 100% of the capacity with sanitary measures, from 20 to 30% with sanitary measures, and up to 'in camera, the fourth option.
