Wolgast (dpa / mv) - The attempt to refuel a van driver in Wolgast (Vorpommern-Greifswald) failed thoroughly.

The 54-year-old rammed the gas station building on Tuesday on the way to the gas pumps, as a police spokesman said on Wednesday.

The employees at the petrol station were still lucky: The violent impact was slowed down a little by a recently installed new parcel wall from an internet retailer.

The building of the gas station was dented, the water and power supply destroyed.

The damage was estimated at tens of thousands of euros.

The driver was unharmed, it was said.

What distracted the man so much is not yet known.
