Two vaccines against covid-19 are currently approved in Sweden and the EU: Pfizer / Biontech and Moderna.

No other vaccines are allowed to be given to patients in Sweden.

The covid vaccines that are available in Sweden today are purchased by the state via the EU.

They are given to the population according to a priority made by the Swedish Public Health Agency.

Only the regions and those who work on behalf of the regions are allowed to give the vaccine - this includes, among other things, private health centers.

Vaccine against covid-19 should not be available outside the regions' care.

- Covid vaccines should currently not be available from anyone other than care providers in regions and follow the order of priority, says Virve Reiman-Suijkerbuijk, unit manager for the inspection unit at the Medical Products Agency.

Not sold to companies

Only states are currently allowed to buy covid vaccine from pharmaceutical companies.

- It applies in any case in Europe, but I have not heard of it happening anywhere else in the world, says Richard Bergström, Swedish vaccine coordinator.

Pfizer Sweden confirms this for SVT Nyheter.

"During the pandemic phase, Pfizer / Biontech's vaccine is earmarked for countries that have concluded agreements," writes Ulrika Goossens, Head of Communications, in an email.

"Then there is something wrong"

If someone in Sweden is offered to buy covid vaccine, it is, according to the vaccine coordinator, "something wrong".

The two vaccines that are currently approved may only be bought and distributed by the state and the regions - they are also free of charge for Swedes.

- If someone pays, they are numerous stolen or in the worst case forged.

There are a lot of counterfeit vaccines around the world, says Richard Bergström.
