The Sultanate of Oman prohibits events and postpones the opening of direct education

Today, the Sultanate of Oman decided to ban the holding of events and delay the opening of direct education in universities, starting from Thursday until further notice.

The Supreme Committee in charge of examining mechanisms for dealing with developments in the spread of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) stated in a statement that the decision includes “banning group events, whatever they are, postponing the opening of direct education in universities and colleges, and postponing the expansion of integrated education for the academic stages of public schools.”

She pointed out, "suspending the holding of international events, activities and conferences in the Sultanate, and suspending the holding of local events and activities of a public nature, including sports activities and exhibitions of all kinds."

The committee recommended that citizens and residents avoid traveling abroad during the coming period, "except for the most urgent necessity, especially with the steps taken by many countries to tighten travel and travel procedures and limit travel on official missions and foreign participation."
