  • A new clandestine establishment was discovered by the police in Roubaix.

  • After the game room, this time it was a hookah bar.

  • Surprised, most of the customers tried to hide in a dark room.

Tuesday evening, the Roubaix police officers again discovered an underground establishment welcoming the public despite the health crisis and the curfew.

This time it was a shisha bar installed above a creperie.

There were many, Tuesday, around 8 p.m., to appear in front of the door of this creperie on rue du Grand chemin, in Roubaix: municipal and national police, firefighters, security and hygiene services and even a deputy mayor.

It was rumored that an underground establishment was attracting the public to the floor of this restaurant and it was therefore a question of getting to the bottom of it.

Carpet in the dark of a small room

To the knocking on the door and repeated calls to open, no one answered.

Suddenly, it was the owner of the building who was pulled out of bed to allow all these little people to enter the premises.

Places that were not empty since three people were upstairs: the manager of the creperie and two men whom he presented as "friends".

Nothing very reprehensible therefore at first glance.

But the police noticed a locked door at the back of the room where the three men were.

Once half-heartedly unlocked by the manager, it turned out that the door opened into a sort of large closet plunged into darkness.

And in this room, lurking in the dark, a dozen people were hiding.

Difficult to justify this for the manager, who was arrested and placed in police custody for endangering the lives of others because of the health context.

His two "friends" and the occupants of the closet, 16 people in all, were fined for an unspecified reason.
