China News Agency, United Nations, January 26. The United Nations Security Council held an open meeting on the Palestinian issue in the Middle East on the 26th. Dai Bing, China’s deputy permanent representative to the United Nations, elaborated on three propositions on the Palestine issue in the Middle East.

The first is to activate diplomatic efforts and form a joint force to promote the peace process.

Palestine and Israel are neighbors that cannot be moved. They should rebuild mutual trust and find a way to live next to each other and coexist peacefully.

The international community should step up coordination and establish a multilateral peace promotion mechanism with extensive participation, so as to form a strong synergy to persuade peace and promote talks.

Relevant parties with important influence on the Palestinian issue should uphold an objective and fair stand, proceed from the fundamental interests of the Palestinian people and regional countries, and make efforts to advance the Middle East peace process.

China supports the Arab countries’ just position on the Palestinian issue, and appreciates and supports the important role played by the Arab League and other regional organizations.

President Abbas proposed to hold an International Conference on Middle East Peace this year. This important initiative deserves active study by the international community.

The second is to comply with international consensus and stop behaviors that undermine mutual trust.

The relevant United Nations resolutions on the Middle East issue, the "land for peace" principle, the "Arab Peace Initiative" and the "Two-State Plan" are the correct directions that have been proven by history. They are the basic principles for resolving the Palestinian issue and should continue to be implemented.

The settlement issue is one of the core issues related to the final status negotiations of Palestine and is related to the prospects for the realization of the "two-state solution."

Security Council Resolution 2334 clearly stated that settlement construction in the occupied Palestinian territory violated international law.

In the past two weeks, more than 800 settlement housing construction plans were approved, and more than 2,600 biddings were initiated.

China is deeply concerned about the continued advancement and significant expansion of Israeli settlement activities and calls for the cessation of all settlement activities in the occupied territories.

The third is to adhere to the people-oriented approach and improve the humanitarian situation in Pakistan.

The survival and development dilemma faced by the Palestinian people cannot be ignored.

Under the current situation, we must pay particular attention to the impact of the new crown pneumonia epidemic on Palestine, including promoting the fair distribution of vaccines and helping the Palestinian people fight the epidemic.

China appreciates the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East for providing education and medical services to Palestine refugees and contributing to improving the humanitarian situation in Palestine. The international community should continue to increase political and financial support for the Agency.

After the outbreak of the new crown pneumonia epidemic, China sent a team of anti-epidemic medical experts to assist Palestine and successively provided 4 batches of anti-epidemic material assistance to Palestine.

Dai Bing said that China is a sincere friend of the Palestinian people and has always been concerned about the Middle East peace process. China is willing to continue to work with the international community to promote the early realization of a comprehensive, just and lasting settlement of the Palestinian issue and make positive contributions to peace, stability and development in the Middle East.
