Potsdam (dpa / bb) - Better protective masks are soon to become mandatory in the Brandenburg state parliament.

Its President Ulrike Liedtke announced on Wednesday in the plenary session that the wearing of a medical mask should be mandatory in the future.

According to information from parliamentary circles, the exact time for the new regulation is still unclear.

Until then, members of the state parliament, employees and visitors are required to wear everyday masks.

The mask requirement is suspended at the fixed place if the minimum distance is observed, behind plexiglass panes between the members of the plenum or at the lectern.

Since January 23, Brandenburg citizens have to wear FFP2 masks, surgical masks and those with the designation N95, P2, DS2 or KN95 on public buses and trains, in shops and offices (except in the square and if the minimum distance is observed).

Everyday masks made of fabric are no longer enough.
