Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - The number of new infections within a week per 100,000 inhabitants in North Rhine-Westphalia has fallen below 100 for the first time in around three months.

On Wednesday morning, the so-called seven-day incidence was 97.2, according to figures from the Robert Koch Institute (RKI).

Previously, this value was last nationwide on October 25, at 96.0, below the 100 threshold.

In the past few days, the important number of new infections had fallen continuously.

The target is the number 50 - from then on the health authorities can, according to their own statements, trace the chains of infection again.

The number of corona deaths in North Rhine-Westphalia rose further by 140 to 10 301. The health authorities in North Rhine-Westphalia also reported 2532 new infections within 24 hours.
