Bochum (dpa / lnw) - Even on the third day after a snake skin was found in the basement of a daycare center in Bochum, the time-consuming search for the python was in vain.

"We canceled the mission in the afternoon without any results," said a fire department spokesman on Wednesday.

On Thursday, the emergency services and a reptile expert want to visit the building for the last time and then decide whether the daycare can be opened again.

So far, no trace of the snake has been found.

All rooms were extensively searched.

The hollow spaces under the ceiling paneling were also checked with hose cameras on Wednesday.

Even on the flour scattered on the floor, the experts could not find any traces of snake movements.

On Monday, an educator discovered the stripped skin of a carpet python in a cardboard box.

To make sure that the strangling snake, whose bite is painful but non-toxic, is no longer in the building, the fire brigade has been searching every corner of the parish hall, which houses a daycare center as well as a youth center, since Monday.

The day-care center was suspended as a precaution.
