January 27, 2021 And, therefore, the consultations.

Officially opened by the resignation of Giuseppe Conte, the government crisis enters the phase in which the issues hovering in the rumors and background will equally officially land on the table of the 'control tower', the Quirinale.

Three days of consultations are starting today to verify, in a short time, if there is a solid majority that can give life to a cohesive government.

In a crisis 'in the dark', as the saying goes, it will be the President of the Republic who will check with all the parliamentary groups - including the brand new one formalized in the Senate, now 10 members and potential 'hard core' of the responsible-builders - whether it is possible to gather a large and absolute majority, with solid numbers in short, to give life to a cohesive government, based on a shared program and the name of a premier.

A situation so delicate that even the drafting of the calendar of consultations took hours, to understand, for example, if the center-right intended to present itself united or divided and if the announced autonomous center group had been born. of use, with the Presidents of the Chambers - and Friday afternoon (break in the morning, when Mattarella will attend the inauguration of the

judicial year

in the

Supreme Court) the Colle should receive the proposal from M5s, Pd and Leu for a confirmation from Conte, it would involve the so-called 'exploration' of the feasibility of a Conte ter.

If the road were practicable, the Head of State could give Conte a full or, indeed, exploratory assignment.

If the necessary convergence on Conte's name did not exist, it could be verified whether the same majority intends to converge on a program, and a premier other than the outgoing one.

And at that point a second round of consultations may be necessary. One of the questions to be verified in the facts, and for now still consigned to the scenarios, is the feasibility of that now famous 'majority Ursula', current edition of the traditional 'broad understandings'.

Even if here, at the moment, the compact no of the center-right remains on record.

And speaking of scenarios, there is in the background the last one, never taken with a light heart: the early vote, if that absolute majority, that is self-sufficient, did not enter the range of the Colle radars.

Tomorrow afternoon, Thursday 28 January, the Parliamentary Group "Liberi e Uguali" of the Chamber of Deputies will go up to the Quirinale at 4.45pm;

at 5.30 pm the Italia Viva - PSI Parliamentary Groups of the Senate of the Republic and Italia Viva of the Chamber of Deputies;

at 18.30 the parliamentary groups "Democratic Party" of the Senate of the Republic and the Chamber of Deputies.

On Friday 29 January in the afternoon the center-right coalition formed by Fdi, Lega, Forza Italia, Cambiamo, Udc, Noi con Italia will go up to the Quirinale at 4.00 pm;

at 5 pm the 5 Star Movement of the Senate of the Republic and the Chamber of Deputies.

Official, new group 'Europeanists' is

born The group of 'Managers' in the Senate

is

officially born without Lady Mastella.

Indicated as one of the main sponsors of the pro Conte constructors operation, the former Azzurri player Sandra Lonardo eventually remains, surprisingly, out of the game.

The former Azzurri Maria Rosaria Rossi and Andrea Causin, and Raffaele Fantetti of the Maie-Italy 23 component, delivered all the forms with the relative signatures of the adherents this morning before 9 am.

The ten senators of the new centrist political formation, all of the Mixed, they come from Maie and the new 'Democratic Center' component (which in the Chamber refers to Bruno Tabacci).

The names of eight 'constructors' are known: these are the five of the 'Maie-Italia 23' Ricardo Merlo, Saverio De Bonis, Adriano Cario, Maurizio Buccarella and Raffaele Fantetti (president of the Italia 23 Association) and the two former Azzurri Maria Rosaria Rossi and Andrea Causin.

The latest arrival is the former pentastellato Gregorio De Falco, who will bring the 'Cd' symbol 'loaned' by Tabacci as a dowry.

Boschi: "If Conte does not want to make mistakes it is human to persevere is useless"

"Conte has already tried to do without us. It seems to me that he has not succeeded. To err is human, to persevere is simply useless" he says this morning from the pages of the newspaper "Il Messaggero", Maria Elena Boschi, group leader of Italia viva alla Camera.

And he continues: "Good work to the new Group, if it ever comes into being. It seems to me that it is not expanding the majority but keeping together people who have already voted yes to trust, from Ciampolillo to Maria Rosaria Rossi.

"We do not place prejudices on the names, but we ask - he adds - a change in the content. The narrative that everything was fine, Italy was a model and the government was the best in the world has never convinced us. The political crisis has opened yesterday, the health, economic and educational crisis has been open for some time. It is time to make a qualitative leap: stop talking, let's worry about Italy ". "The point - concludes Boschi - is not who is the minister, but which ideas make up the program. I understand that it may seem unnatural given the souk still underway in the Senate, but we are the only political force that has given up on its seats".

Toninelli: "New contract to protect us from Iv"

The Five Star Movement continues to square around the former premier. During the assembly this morning a clear position emerged: "Everyone with President Conte", but in many interventions reference is made to "a return with Italia Viva". This is what is learned during the joint M5S. "This crisis is made against us," said Senator M5S Danilo Toninelli during the assembly. "Iv can continue to be an interlocutor, everything can be resolved with a new government contract" by binding himself with the signing of the contract, suggests the former Minister of Transport.

Even the Democratic Party opens to a new government still led by the "advocate of the Italians". "No one has understood the reasons for this crisis, but I hope that Italia Viva will recover the political wisdom to support a Count Ter" says Andrea Romano, deputy of the Democratic Party, in an interview with Mattino. And he continues: "There are only two possible majorities: the pro-European one that since August 2019 has allowed us to rediscover dialogue with the EU or a sovereign and anti-European one. Conte is the best balance of the pro-European majority, the only one to which the Democratic Party is available ''.

Serracchiani: "Conte should have acted first"

The vice president Deborah Serracchiani Debora Serracchiani, vice president of the Democratic Party, in an interview with Corriere della sera talks about the line of her party on the eve of the consultations after the resignation of the premier: "Before the meeting at the Quirinale there will be our national leadership and it will be decided ... I think we will bring to President Mattarella the patrimony of responsibility that the Democratic Party has had so far. We have tried to avoid the crisis and, if we are in this situation, it is for incomprehensible choices . But we are also aware that a solution is needed ".

"We need to think about a path that in a short time will lead to a strong government and a solid majority, which must therefore be enlarged". And will it include Renzi? "It is not time to veto anyone," says Serracchiani. As for the figure of Conte: "I reiterate his role which, since August 2019, has allowed us to regain a position in Europe. We have confidence in the decisions of the President of the Republic. We have a duty to try to work with a political government that it re-launches its action and its credibility, that it makes the necessary reforms to governability and to make the Recovery executive. But we have always put a stake: no to sovereign forces ".

Forza Italia is not part of that group: does this mean that it could be an interlocutor for the formation of a new executive? "Our secretary Zingaretti has repeatedly stressed the need to appeal to pro-European and democratic forces. These forces will also have to pronounce themselves. But, I repeat, everything remains in the hands of President Mattarella", explains Serracchiani.

And on the hypothesis of early voting, the vice-president of the dem group observes: "It would be difficult at this moment, the electoral campaign would postpone economic and social priorities. Of course, however, governments decide in Parliament and, if there is no result, it will decide. the Quirinale what to do ". Finally, a judgment on the executive's action so far: "We can always do more and better. We had made several proposals ... And we have already said that Conte should have acted earlier to prevent some situations from settling", concludes Serracchiani.

Center-right will go together with Colle

The center-right will go up together with Quirinale. The leader of the League, Matteo Salvini continues to repeat that the only way out of this delicate moment for our country is to go to the vote: "Let's give back to the Italians," he says. On the same wavelength the President of Fratelli d'Italia, Giorgia Meloni, who says: "We are a solid alternative to this unworthy pantomime". But Forza Italia leader Silvio Berlusconi insists: "Executive of national unity or vote".
