When the fire broke out around 8:30 p.m. on Monday, the owner of the premises found himself stranded upstairs.

A 50-year-old man was seriously injured in Brizon, Haute-Savoie, after falling several meters from a family house in the grip of flames, reports

Le Dauphiné Libéré.

To escape the fire, which quickly spread to the upper part of the house, made of wood, the man, helped by one of his neighbors, tried to rappelling down the facade.

But he fell.

The victim was transported to the Alpes-Léman hospital center, as was a 30-year-old woman present in the house during the fire.

The latter, who inhaled fumes, was also taken care of by the emergency services.

At 10 p.m. Tuesday, the fire had been brought under control before it spread to neighboring homes.

An investigation has been opened to determine the origin of this fire.
