Actually, everything would go according to plan.

Phase one of the vaccination is in full swing and some of the elderly in special housing have even had time to receive their second dose of the covid-19 vaccine.

But the big challenge now is access to the vaccine.

- We have tried to get the vaccine out as soon as possible, so it is not in the freezer unnecessarily, but it also makes us extremely vulnerable when it comes to disruptions in deliveries, says Jonas Ekström.

30% reductions

Most vaccine doses that Västmanland receives currently come from Pfizer, but lately there have been 30% reductions in volume.

And Moderna's vaccine arrives in the county with severe delays.

- The staff is basically like horses before a race that is just waiting to be released.

And instead, they get a few times when you could actually have vaccinated thousands, says Jonas Ekström.

Will you be able to guarantee that everyone gets their second dose within the right time frame?

- We will probably exceed the recommended four weeks in some cases, but even if you get a dose of two up to six weeks after the first vaccination, it is completely in order, says Jonas Ekström.
