Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - North Rhine-Westphalia's Prime Minister Armin Laschet (CDU) is informing the state parliament today (10:00 a.m.) about the current corona measures.

It is about the latest federal and state resolutions to extend the lockdown until February 14th.

For the first time after his election as CDU federal chairman, Laschet gives a speech to the Düsseldorf state parliament.

After the first online meetings of the newly elected CDU governing bodies, Laschet clearly rejected calls for the lockdown in Germany to be relaxed on Monday.

There is currently no room for opening discussions.

The number of infections is falling, but the incalculable mutated virus could show its effect in Germany at any moment.

However, the focus of the state parliament debate in Düsseldorf is also on the problems with corona vaccinations.

After the initial difficulties on Monday, the first day of vaccination appointments for people over 80 years of age, the opposition SPD had requested a current hour.

The SPD spoke of a “vaccination chaos”.

Laschet, however, drew a positive conclusion.

"The vaccination started successfully."

The SPD also criticized bottlenecks in vaccine procurement, which led to the postponement of vaccination campaigns in NRW.

This information was known to NRW Health Minister Karl-Josef Laumann (CDU) early on.

"Nevertheless, this carries out large-scale PR campaigns," criticized the SPD.

The minister must present the further strategy of the vaccination process in North Rhine-Westphalia.
