An 18-year-old was life-threateningly injured by several knife wounds in the Hamburg district of Wilhelmsburg on Tuesday evening.

As the police announced on Wednesday, they are looking for two previously unknown perpetrators.

The crime occurred shortly after 7 p.m. when the 18-year-old was walking with a friend of the same age through an underpass of the old Wilhelmsburger Reichsstrasse on Rotenhäuser Strasse.

According to the first findings of the police, he is said to have been attacked there suddenly by two strangers.

The young man was critically injured by several knife stabs in the upper body and leg.

His companion was unharmed.

A passer-by who happened to be present took over the first aid of the injured person until an ambulance arrived and took him to a hospital.

The 18-year-old is now in stable condition.

The first search measures for the fugitive perpetrators were unsuccessful despite the use of 14 patrol cars.

The background to the act is currently unclear.

According to witness statements, the alleged perpetrators are said to be around 1.75 meters tall and of strong stature.

At the time of the crime, they are said to have been wearing black jackets, one of them with a hood.

One of the suspects is also said to have worn jeans, a black hat and a dark blue scarf.
