"While in Parliament we are witnessing an authentic scandal, the attempt to let people pass not on an idea but on an opaque management of personal and institutional relationships, we are witnessing the creation of improvised groups, we are here to say forcefully that, thanks to Teresa (Bellanova), Elena (Bonetti) and Ivan (Scalfarotto), we gave up our armchairs, because we want to make our ideas prevail ".

Thus Matteo Renzi, leader of IV, in a video on Facebook on the day when the head of state, Sergio Mattarella, started consultations for a solution to the government crisis.

Straight bar Iv on the restart, let's not talk about armchairs

"To do politics, we need to study, know and make proposals - he added -. We care about Italy and Italy must start again now. Only one thing we cannot afford, not live this crisis as a great opportunity to start again. Either we prepare the restart now or we throw away this opportunity. We will continue to talk about contents and if others talk about armchairs, argue about the character and attack us with fake news, it is not a our problem. We keep the bar straight, with an open face, on the things that are useful to Italy not to us ".

Three emergencies: economy, health and school

In the video, Renzi explained that in Italy there are three emergencies that need to be addressed immediately: the economic one, the vaccine plan and the school.

For all three it is necessary to "prepare everything now" in order to be able to leave again.

"You will tell me - he said - that there are no vaccines: it is true but everything must be prepared now to be able to carry out a mass vaccination when they arrive" because the economic crisis will only emerge once the herd immunity is reached.

Even for the school, everything must be organized from now on, because "Dad is not the solution".

Therefore, "we need to be able to put professors in the forefront of vaccinations".

"We care about Italy - he insisted - and only by preparing these steps now can we start again".
