Mannheim (dpa) - With a reversal of the tactical direction and an important change in personnel, SV Waldhof has developed from a relegation candidate to a team of the hour in the 3rd soccer league.
Before Christmas, three defeats with a total of 1:11 goals caused an alarm mood at the traditional club, but this was followed by six games without a defeat, through which the SVW climbed to a safe midfield position in the table.
A 1-0 win against leaders Dynamo Dresden was achieved on Tuesday.
"The boys showed a great mileage and played a strong pressing", coach Patrick Glöckner praised his protégés.
Rafael Garcia scored the decisive goal with a penalty in the sixth minute of stoppage time.
It was surprising that the Mannheimers had a little more power reserves in the final phase, because the Glöckner-Elf completed the sixth match against Dynamo within 19 days.
