Chemnitz (dpa) - Regional soccer team Chemnitzer FC separates from its sports director Armin Causevic.

As the club announced on Wednesday, the contract with the 35-year-old will end on February 28th.

The decision was already communicated to Causevic, who took up the position at CFC on January 1, 2020.

«Armin Causevic did not bury his head in the sand after relegating from the third division in the summer of 2020 and actively supported the CFC.

However, in the supervisory board, executive board and group of shareholders, we had to state that we need a new impetus in this crucial position in order to achieve our medium-term goal of advancement, ”said CFC supervisory board chairman Knut Müller in an association statement.

In the regional league season, which was interrupted by the corona pandemic, the Chemnitz-based team are in ninth place in the table with 17 points after 13 games and are already 16 points behind leaders Viktoria Berlin.

In addition to the function of sports director, Causevic will also let his office as sports director at CFC rest.

«I had a demanding, challenging but also great time at Chemnitzer FC.

We were able to reach the DFB-Pokal under difficult conditions this season, unfortunately the sporting success in the league did not turn out as we had imagined, ”explained Causevic.
