from the prosecution.

The investigations were entrusted to the police of the departmental security of Hérault.

Obscene drawings on the walls

A fire broke out on Monday in the religious building, but was quickly brought under control.

According to the first information gathered from the prosecutor of the Republic of Montpellier, Fabrice Bélargent, the damage remains "minor": a tablecloth was affected, as well as the first pages of a missal.

In addition, "several writings and drawings of an obscene nature" were discovered on the interior walls of the church.

This is not the first time that damage has occurred in this building: it had happened several times in a few days, in 2017.
