Berlin (AP) - Alba Berlin has missed another surprise when Aito Garcia Reneses returned to the head coach position in the Euroleague.

On Wednesday, the Bundesliga basketball team was defeated by the Russian top team CSKA Moscow with 68:71 (37:34) in their own hall in front of empty stands, despite a courageous performance.

The first leg could be won against the last premier class winner 93:88.

The best thrower from Berlin was Peyton Siva with 15 points.

At Alba, Aito took over the head coach role again, interim coach Israel Gonzalez returned to the post of assistant coach.

The Berliners initially found it difficult to get into the game.

From the middle of the second quarter the German champions acted more consistently, defended with more intensity and acted offensively with more speed.

This also gave them better throwing opportunities that they could often use.

Alba took the lead for the first time before the break.

ZSKA came out of the cabin with a lot of momentum and took the lead with five points in the middle of the third section (49:45).

But Alba was unimpressed and took the lead back before the final quarter (56:52).

The decision was only made 9.1 seconds before the end, when the guests scored 68:71 with two free throws.

Marcus Eriksson gave the last litter to Alba.
