These last days have been marked by two tragedies at the Angers remand center.

According to the

Ouest-France

newspaper

, a 45-year-old detainee ended his life on the night from Sunday to Monday.

It was supervisors who sounded the alarm in their first round but it was unfortunately too late.

An autopsy was to be performed to find out more about the causes of the death of this man, who had left a letter for his family.

An inmate hospitalized

On Tuesday afternoon, the emergency services again intervened at the remand center after a detainee set his cell on fire.

According to the

Courrier de l'Ouest

, this man was seriously burned and intoxicated.

He was transported to the Angers University Hospital.
