On Tuesday night, members of the House of Representatives informed that Donald Trump will be brought before the Supreme Court, reports international media.

This means that the prosecution has now been formally initiated.

The Supreme Court indictment covers only one point of indictment: Incitement to rebellion.

Democrats believe the former president should be held accountable for inciting the mob that stormed the Capitol on January 6 after Trump repeated his baseless allegations of electoral fraud and called for protests.

Biden skeptical

"Donald John Trump was guilty of serious crimes and misdemeanors by inciting violence against the US government," said Jamie Raskin, a Democratic member of the House of Representatives and one who leads the trial.

For Trump to be overthrown, however, at least 17 Republican senators must follow the Democrats' line.

President Joe Biden tells CNN that he is behind the indictment, but at the same time is skeptical that he will get enough of his political opponents with him.
