Fulda (dpa / lhe) - District Administrator Bernd Woide and his deputy Frederik Schmitt (both CDU) continue to worry about the highest number of new corona infections in the Fulda district in Hesse.

After almost 380 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days on January 10, this so-called seven-day incidence in the eastern Hessian district was 282.8 on Tuesday, according to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), and has been around for several days the 280. In all other counties the incidence on Tuesday was below 200.

"Despite the decline, this is of course anything but a situation with which we can all be satisfied," said Woide and Schmitt in a press release.

"On the contrary: We are also concerned because the infections are still spread across the district and are therefore difficult to grasp."

Of the currently 641 newly registered cases last week, around 400 occurred in the private sphere.

70 infections can be traced back to the professional environment, 50 to staff and residents in care facilities.

There is also a hotspot with 23 infections among kindergarten teachers and children.

In 100 cases, no specific source of infection could be assigned.

The district had increased its capacity to track infection chains from an initial 60 to 200 people.

According to the state's requirements, only 55 employees would actually be required, the message said.

On average, 5.3 contact persons were identified per case.

All contact persons would be tested regularly.

"We go beyond the requirements of the RKI and also test all symptom-free contacts," says Schmitt.
