The pharmacy giant Pfizer, noting that user countries extract six doses from each vial, and not five, has decided to deliver fewer vials, for the same price.

An operation that the Swedish Health Agency denounces today by threatening to suspend the payment of its bills.

Throughout Tuesday, the discourse of the various Swedish authorities evolved.

In the morning, the vaccine coordinator called Pfizer's attitude unacceptable.

In the afternoon, Anders Tegnell, chief epidemiologist, asked for "

clarifications

" on the amounts to be paid.

The words are different but the idea is the same.

Sweden, like many countries, is struggling to come to terms with Pfizer's decision to deliver fewer vaccine vials, as these no longer have a five-dose capacity and extra safety - which is the norm - but of six doses.

The Health Agency specifies that the extraction of this sixth dose is not obvious.

It requires special syringes and needles, which are not currently available in all parts of Sweden because the announcement of this change was made too late.

The country will therefore resume its payments only when Pfizer and the European Commission, which are currently in negotiations, have reached an agreement.
