As RIA Novosti clarifies, Milonov earlier in an interview with the Armenian program spoke about Azerbaijan and the Azerbaijani people, which were considered disrespectful in Baku.

"We strongly condemn the use of unacceptable expressions addressed to the state and people of Azerbaijan by Vitaly Milonov," the statement on the agency's website says.

The Foreign Ministry drew attention to the fact that such a step by the Russian deputy contradicts the existing relations at the highest level between Azerbaijan and Russia.

As noted, it was emphasized that Milonov's statements do not reflect the official position of Moscow.

In October 2020, Azerbaijan included Milonov in the list of foreign citizens who are prohibited from entering the country.

This decision was made in connection with the visit of the deputy to Karabakh.
