Kiel (dpa / lno) - Schleswig-Holstein's police will step up controls to ensure compliance with the corona rules.

This applies particularly to areas with high numbers of infections, announced Interior Minister Sabine Sütterlin-Waack (CDU) and State Police Director Michael Wilksen on Tuesday in Kiel.

Flensburg and the Pinneberg district in particular currently have high corona values.

The vast majority of the population is still acting in an exemplary manner, said the minister.

Therefore, the police will continue to rely on personal address and explain the need for the measures.

Where friendly tips from the law enforcement officers do not help, the police will now tighten the reins a little.

"In both cases, an additional presence on the street helps," said Sütterlin-Waack.

The patrol duty is to be strengthened in the entire state and especially in Flensburg and in the Pinneberg district according to the situation.

In addition, the police offer the municipal authorities primarily responsible for controls joint controls in areas that are particularly prone to violations, explained Wilksen.

These could be areas with currently known corona clusters, but also places that have already been noticed more often as meeting points.

At present, members of a household are only allowed to meet with one other person in the country.
