Steinfurt (dpa / lnw) - After a mutation is suspected at Marienhospital Steinfurt, all employees and patients are tested for Corona as a precaution.

According to a spokeswoman, a total of 1000 people were swabbed for a so-called PCR test on Tuesday.

All unnecessary interventions were initially canceled for Wednesday and Thursday.

Ambulance transports to other hospitals.

The hospital is still available for patients who can reach the emergency room on foot.

For the time being there is a ban on visiting the house.

At the hospital belonging to the Münster University Clinic, there has been a suspicion since Monday afternoon that three people are infected with a mutation of the coronavirus.

An investigation has revealed evidence, said a clinic spokesman on Tuesday.

More detailed investigations have been initiated.

The results should be available on Friday at the earliest.

There is no indication of what kind of mutation it could be, the spokesman said.

The clinic did not provide any details about the people concerned.

Coronavirus mutations have occurred more frequently in the Netherlands in recent days, the clinic said.

"That is why the infection process is being carefully examined in the districts of North Rhine-Westphalia near the border."
