Lübeck (dpa / lno) - In the Schleswig-Holstein soccer clubs, the hopes for a continuation of the season are low.

According to a survey by the “Lübecker Nachrichten” (“Sportbuzzer”) among 3,020 participants, 58.6 percent said they should end the season.

38.2 percent are in favor of a continuation.

The Schleswig-Holstein Football Association (SHFV) announced on Saturday that it wanted to continue the season that began in September 2020 and was interrupted at the beginning of November.

If the lockdown, which was initially dated until February 14th, is extended, the playing time until the agreed end of the season on June 13th will be extremely tight.

Amateur clubs can only insert English weeks in exceptional cases and are dependent on the weekend.

"Of course we support the decision of our association, but for the planning, a clear decision, which could only have been termination, would have been better," said Timo Gothmann, team manager at SV Todesfelde.

The SHFV had “done a disservice” to the clubs.

Martin Ghafury, sporting director at TuS Hartenholm, said: «It is no use for anyone to drop out now.

But we should only think about football when we can go onto the pitch without worries. "
