AFP news agency reported that amid the possibility of cancellation of the Tokyo Olympics in Japan this year due to the spread of Corona 19, the state of Florida in the United States has expressed its wish to host this year's Olympics instead.

In a letter to the Chairman of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Thomas Bach, Florida Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis said, "I hope you consider moving the 2021 Olympic venue from Tokyo, Japan to the United States, specifically Florida." Said.

“There are reports that the Japanese leadership is very worried'privately' about the hosting of the 2021 Olympics,” he said. “There is still time to send a venue selection team to Florida.”

"The Governor of Florida has partnered with the private sector to get the vaccine faster," Patronis CFO said. "Unlike other states, the vaccine will be distributed quickly."

He also claimed that various sports such as basketball and football are held throughout Florida, and that Disneyland Amusement Park is operating safely.

He then asked the chairman to reply, saying, "Regardless of what precautions are needed, the state of Florida will find a way to do it."

But in Florida, the situation is bad, with more than 25,000 cumulative deaths related to Corona 19, AFP pointed out.

The Tokyo Summer Olympics was postponed for one year from July of last year to July of this year due to Corona 19, but cancellations have recently emerged again.

However, the Japanese government is sticking to the position that it is preparing to host the Tokyo Olympics as scheduled.
