Erfurt / Weimar (dpa / th) - According to the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians, the opening of further corona vaccination centers in Thuringia, which is planned for February 3, is not endangered by the delivery bottlenecks at the vaccine manufacturer Biontech / Pfizer.

According to previous plans, his preparation should not be used in these vaccination centers anyway, said KV vaccination coordinator Jörg Mertz on Tuesday.

The agent from the US manufacturer Moderna is used here.

Because little of it is likely to be available, according to Mertz, the centers concerned initially only open three hours a day: "We don't have any more vaccine."

Thuringia has only received a delivery of 1200 doses of the Moderna vaccine.

The next 2400 are to follow this weekend;

By the end of February, a total of 26,400 cans should have arrived in Thuringia.

The Biontech / Pfizer vaccine has so far been used in the first 14 vaccination centers, which opened two weeks ago.

Due to delivery problems at Pfizer, no vaccination appointments are currently being made on the www.impfen-thueringen.de portal until further notice - at least until February 8th.

Vaccine is in stock and planned for initial and follow-up appointments that have already been agreed.

So far, according to the Thuringian Ministry of Health, a good 41,000 people have been injected against Covid-19 (as of Tuesday, midnight);

a little more than 2,200 received the second dose.
