Moscow (dpa) - Russia and the USA have agreed on the extension of the New Start nuclear disarmament treaty after Kremlin information.

Corresponding diplomatic notes were exchanged today, the Kremlin announced on Tuesday evening after President Vladimir Putin spoke to his US colleague Joe Biden on the phone.

Both sides had previously declared their willingness to extend the last disarmament agreement, which expired at the beginning of February, by five years.
