Mainz (dpa / lrs) - The newcomers Danny da Costa and Dominik Kohr are convinced that they can help FSV Mainz 05 with their experience in relegation battle.

«I already had the situation in Augsburg.

So far, I've never been relegated, and I'd like to keep that, ”said the 26-year-old midfielder Kohr at a video press conference of the second bottom of the Bundesliga on Tuesday.

The Mainz team loaned the duo from Eintracht Frankfurt until the end of the season.

Both were in the starting eleven of the Rheinhessen team in the 3-2 win against RB Leipzig on Saturday and were convincing.

"When you play with FC Ingolstadt in the Bundesliga, there is only the issue of relegation from day one," said da Costa, referring to his ex-club.

The 27-year-old full-back moved from Ingolstadt to Bayer Leverkusen in 2016 and from there to Eintracht in 2017, where, like Kohr, he had hardly played a role recently.

«We are two guys who work in a team.

It may be that we are a bit more liberated and that our experience with such a situation can help, ”said da Costa.

Mainz play on Friday (8.30 p.m.) at the newly promoted VfB Stuttgart.
